Tour places in Amritsar

Hello, friends welcome to my blog. In this article, you will get to know the Tour places in Amritsar and also I will share all my personal experiences of how was my trip to Amritsar.

Before going to Amritsar we have planned what we will be going to explore in Amritsar. So the first thing we did was we booked a flight and hotel.

The best time to visit Amritsar is from Oct to march. I visited in Jan month so read a complete article to know tour places in Amritsar.

Amritsar is considered the most important and holy city of Punjab. It is considered because of the golden temple.

We all know that Amritsar is a historic city.

The golden temple is considered to be the heart of Amritsar.

First, let me share with you how I visited Amritsar as I am from Aurangabad Maharashtra. So I booked a flight from Mumbai to Amritsar I booked a flight from Mumbai because I got a flight ticket at a very affordable rate.

We went to Mumbai by train from Aurangabad it was a night journey and the distance from Aurangabad to Mumbai is 300 km.

We reached Mumbai at 6 o clock in the morning and our flight is 9 am by taxi we went to the airport.

By taxi in just 15 min, we reached the airport as it was early in the morning so there is no traffic on road.

So we have a good amount of time left we got fresh at the airport and then boarded on a flight. It was a 2-hour journey.

We reached 11:30 inĀ  Amritsar then we checked Into the hotel room that I have already booked. It took one and half hours to get a fresh Amritsar trip is our family trip so a total of 5 members of our family that we planned to visit Amritsar.

I booked two rooms for 3 days in Amritsar as we are a total of 5 members. It was two-member allowed in a single room but we requested them by paying some extra cash they allowed by providing an extra bed.

If you have proper time management then you may able to tour places in Amritsar in just 2 days so 2 days is enough in Amritsar as per the tourist place’s point of view.

Tour places in Amritsar

1. Wagah border

Wagah Border is 30 to 35 km from Amritsar now to reach Wagah border we booked a car from the hotel which gives pick up and drop service. They have charged us 1000 rs.

You can also take your own car or you may rent a car in Amritsar. If you do not want to spend too much money then you can use the public bus.

Other than that you can use the Amritsar tourist bus which provides a full tour package for just 380 rs per person. For more information, you can visit their site.

You must visit the Wagah border because it is the international border between India and Pakistan and daily on this border you will get to see flag ceremonies.

Now to reach the Wagah border timing is very important Because daily 20 to 25 thousand people visit the Wagah border.

Make sure you must reach the Wagah border before 3 o clock so that you will get a seat and you can able to enjoy the flag ceremony.

Important things that you have to keep in mind are that luggage bags are not allowed at the Wagah border. Only they allow a camera, mobile, wallet, and water bottle.

The time of the flag ceremony in winter is 4:15 pm and in summer 4:45 pm.

2. Golden Temple

If you planning a trip to Amritsar without visiting the golden temple then your Amritsar trip is incomplete.

Our hotel room is very close to the golden temple so we visited the golden temple at evening 8 pm.

In the evening the golden temple looks very beautiful and the weather is also very pleasant and happening in the evening near the golden temple.

The time of golden temple is from 3 am morning to 10 pm at night and it is open all 7 days a week.

Golden temple is open to all religions and daily almost 1 lakh people visit this temple it is a world-famous temple.

People come here from all over the world and they feel the same amount of peace. Golden temple is also called Sri Harmandir Sahib

In the temple, you must have a langar. Golden temple langar is world-famous so the food is prepared for a half lakh people every day.

The name of this langar is guru ram das langar Seva 24 hours food is being prepared in the kitchen.

Now you question in your mind why it is called a golden temple. So let me tell you after the Anglo- Sikh wars, Maharaja Ranjit Singh covered the temple with 24-carat gold in the 1830s, and on that 500 kg of gold was used because of this it is called the golden temple.

3. Jallianwala Bagh

Jallianwala bagh is just 200 meters away from the golden temple. The Timing of Jallianwala bagh morning is 6:30 am to 7:30 pm and it is open 7 days a week.

It is must visit place and entry is completely free.

Most people know the history of Jallianwala Bagh. On 13 April 1919, British officer general dyer has given the order to fire Indian people who were gathered inside Jallianwala bagh.

There is only a single gate to move outside Jallianwala bagh but general dyer has blocked that gate and started firing on people.

The firing continued for 20 minutes and according to official figures 379 people were killed and 1200 people were injured but the crowd was estimated between 15000 to 20000 in Jallianwala bagh.

The bullet mark was still present on the wall. Inside Jallianwala bagh, you will also get to see martyrs well. From this well, 120 dead bodies were removed.

4. Maharaja ranjit singh museum

Maharaja Ranjit Singh museum is very famous in Amritsar so the opening time of this museum is 10 am to 5 pm. It is closed on Monday and it is open from Tuesday till Sunday.

The entry ticket is 10 Rs per person. If you want you can hire a guide where the guide will give you detailed information about maharaja Ranjit Singh’s life.

It will take a minimum of one hour to explore the museum properly. When you exit the museum you will get to see ram bagh garden.

5. Partition Museum

Partition Museum is the must-visit place where you will get information about how the India and Pakistan partitions happened.

Entry ticket is 10 Rs and the timing is 10 am to 6 pm. It closed on Monday and it opens from Tuesday till Sunday.

In partition museum guide facility is available, the guide will cost 250 rs.  If you want you can hire a guide where the guide will give you detailed information about the partition.

6. Gobindgargh fort

Gobindgarh Fort is a real fort after a renovation this fort is open to the public. Opening time is 10 am to 10 pm.

Many activities happen in this fort such as a 7d laser show, camel, and horse ride for children.

In the evening a light show happens on the fort and they perform stage dances from their dance they show the history of the fort.

If you want to see the 7d laser show then you must come before 5 pm.

7. Sun city park

If you planning to visit Amritsar in the summer then you may plan to visit sun city water park.

In Sun city park there is a water park as well as an amusement park. So the ticket amusement park is 300 Rs and for the water park 600 if want you may take a combo it will cost 700 Rs. Please take time to time price may get change.

Take note on time to time prices may get change. The time of sun city park is from 10 am to 8 pm.

8. Shopping places in Amritsar

The market of Amritsar is huge and attractive.

Punjabi dress is very famous all over the world, especially for girls, girls have a lot of passion for Punjabi suits.

Apart from Punjabi suits, there is also demand for pagri, salwar kameez, Rumal, and Punjabi Jutti.

You must do shopping in Amritsar to do shopping the first market you must visit is the hall bazaar.

Hall Bazaar is a very old and famous shopping market in Amritsar. Start shopping in the hall bazaar you get everything a tourist needs.

The second shopping market is Katra Jaimal Singh which is within walking distance from the hall bazaar.

In Katra Singh market you will get to see branded shops, artificial jewelry, original jewelry, handicrafts, etc.

Other than that you may also visit Cloth market, Guru bazaar, and Shastri market this is a very famous street market and all this market comes within a 2 km radius. In all these markets you can do shopping on walking.

In Amritsar, there are many shopping malls such as trillium mall, alpha one mall, etc.

9. Food you must try

The famous food Amritsar that you must try such as Amritsari kulcha, butter chicken, mutton tikka, Sarso do Sang, Amritsari lassi, and also Amritsar is very famous for pickles and papads.

If you want to taste pure veg food then must go to bharawan da Dhaba a famous Dhaba in Amritsar since 1912.

The famous dish that you must try in Bharawan da Dhaba is dal makhani, Sarso do Sang, chana masala, rajma, and paneer dishes.

Their many other famous restaurants in Amritsar are Kesar da Dhaba, brothers Dhaba.

I have tasted veg thali in brothers Dhaba a food very tastes it cost me 260 rs per person thali.

10. How I Explore Amritsar

At 11:50 am we reached our hotel. We already planned that we will not be going to waste any time so got fresh in 1 hour. Then we booked a pick-up and drop service car the car we have booked from our hotel.

This is how we planned tour places in Amritsar day-wise.

Day 1

In our day 1 plan, we have decided that we will be going to visit the Wagah border. From Amritsar to Wagah border is 30 km.

At exactly 1:30 pm we are on the way to the Wagah border. It took 50 min to reach the Wagah border till 6 pm we were at the Wagah border.

After our return journey to Amritsar, we did dinner in Dhaba on the highway.

Then at 8:30 pm, we went to the golden temple as our hotel is very close to the golden temple.

At night golden temple looks so beautiful. You also must visit the golden temple at night. We spent more than 2 hours in a golden temple in this way our day 1 trip ended.

Day 2

In the morning at 10 o clock we reached Jallianwala bagh we came out at 11:30 am from Jallianwala bagh.

Then we directly went to the maharaja Ranjeet Singh museum. After Maharaja Ranjeet Singh museum then we did an afternoon dinner.

After dinner we explored the partition museum then in the evening, we went to Gobindgarh fort. Then again we went to the golden temple. In the golden temple, we tasted langar food thus our day 2 trip.

Day 3

Day 3 is our relaxing day so we did the shopping, tasted a variety of food in Amritsar, and just explored Amritsar city by going anywhere.

Thus our Amritsar trip was very nice it went according to our plan. People in Amritsar are friendly, the food is amazing, and I loved very much shopping in Amritsar if you have bargaining skills you can do shopping at a very cheap rate.
